Ariel Woodard-Stephens is the sole attorney in Rising for Justice’s Civil Protection Order Project and is responsible for advising and representing those initially presenting as respondents in the fast-paced Domestic Violence Division of the D.C. Superior Court. Ariel also serves as a staff attorney in the Eviction Defense Services division at Rising for Justice. She believes in client-first representation, effective communication and views her bar license as a tool for the empowerment of those she represents.
Ariel began her career as a Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation Bart Gordon Fellow at Greater Boston Legal Services in Boston, Massachusetts. She also completed a judicial clerkship in the Criminal Division of the New Jersey Superior Court which informs her daily practice. She is a proud graduate of both Northeastern University School of Law, known for producing public interest attorneys and of George Mason University here in the DMV area. Ariel previously served as the Social Justice Chair of the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the Women Lawyers’ Division of the National Bar Association (GWAC) for the 2019-2020 board year.
