Carla Jordan-Detamore – Immediate Past President

Carla is a senior associate at Vinson & Elkins LLP in the complex commercial litigation practice group. Her practice primarily focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, antitrust class action defense, and civil litigation. Her litigation and client counseling experience includes managing complex electronic discovery, conducting internal investigations, defending clients in False Claims Act proceedings, participating in trial and arbitration, and advising clients on compliance matters related to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other public corruption laws.

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Carla attended college at Duke University, where she majored in Cultural Anthropology. After graduating college, Carla went on to teach second grade at Venetian Hills Elementary School in Atlanta, GA as part of Teach For America. Following two years of teaching second grade, Carla went to law school at Washington University in St. Louis. For her 1L summer, Carla worked for the Legal Aid Board of South Africa in Durban, South Africa. Upon graduation from law school, Carla went on to clerk for the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee in the Eastern District of Virginia before coming to her current firm, Vinson & Elkins LLP, in Washington, D.C.
